The Overcomer Part 2!

What is an overcomer?

Once again, let’s define an “(Overcomer)”: The Greek word for “overcomer” is nikao, which means “to conquer, overcome, prevail, or gain victory”. It’s often associated with overcoming obstacles or gaining victory over something or someone.

We are born overcomers; we just need to learn how to become overcomers and allow God to develop our minds to match what our spirit has in it so we can grow into who we really are.

Allow yourself to meditate on the word of God and remember you are who the lord says you are.

Scripture I Peter 2:9 — But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light;

Quote: Because when you are born, you have everything you need. You just have to grow into it.

Revelation 3:21-22 He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.

Are you an overcomer?

What makes you an overcomer?

Tell the reasons why you are an overcomer or just give your testimony in the space below by filling in the blank. Keep this as a reminder of how God delivered you in the past and how he will increase your faith to overcome future challenges.

For instance — My testimony: I was able to overcome _________ by the grace of God and now I’m able to share my testimony with other people because God delivered me from ________ and I feel better about myself and I have a testimony.

Or you can write a note to yourself in your journal and add to the collection of miracles and blessings God has already bestowed upon your life to increase your faith and have something to look back on when you need a fresh word of encouragement.

Here is another way to look at an overcomer, in case you have to minister to someone who needs your gift to bless them.

An Overcomer: a person who overcomes something: one who succeeds in dealing with or gaining control of some problem or difficulty. … an advocate for women’s rights, a voice for mental health awareness, an overcomer of drug addiction, etc. You are the overcomer God is expecting to bless others who need your testimony and need your gift.

An overcomer always has a testimony: When an overcomer looks back, they remember. This is my history, this is my experience, this is my gift, and this is why I am an overcomer. Because you are an overcomer!

A Checklist for An Overcomer:

  1. On a scale from 1-10: How well do you cope with stress and adversity?
  2. Do you handle shortcomings like an overcomer?
  3. Do you see trials as temporary or permanent?
  4. Are you controlled by your fears or motivated by your faith?
  5. Do you give up easily during a trial or exercise a broad capacity of perseverance to endure that trial?
  6. Do you encourage others to be an overcomer?

Romans 1:12 I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— 12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

I encourage you to be strong in the lord and continue to study your word and remain in the community of believers of overcomers who will help you fight the good fight of faith.

Quote: If you can keep the faith, you can have an abundant life as an overcomer.

God bless you and keep the faith!
