The Overcomer!
What is an overcomer?
Let’s define an “(Overcomer)”: The Greek word for “overcomer” is nikao, which means “to conquer, overcome, prevail, or gain victory”. It’s often associated with overcoming obstacles or gaining victory over something or someone.
Revelation 3:21-22 – He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.
We are born overcomers; we just need to learn how to become overcomers.
Quote: Because when you are born, you have everything you need. You just have to grow into it.
These are 3 ways to become an overcomer:
1. Work on your relationship with God:
When preachers and leaders refuse to work on their relationship with God, they have a relationship with something else. For instance, if a husband never comes home after work, and spends time with his spouse. His wife will become suspicious and feel he is spending time with someone else. Your relationship with Christ helps you to develop into an overcomer. Therefore, when weak leaders and false teachers appear on the scene. Your spirit will disagree with their teachings.
For instance, during the whole prosperity movement. A lot of believers got distracted by how the message made them feel compared to how much it helped them grow in God and become closer to their heavenly Father in relationship.
Would you rather be closer to Jesus or closer to mammon, which is the God of money?
Of course, we would rather be closer to Jesus. The bible reads in Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon [money, possessions, fame, status, or whatever is valued more than the Lord].
False teachers and carnal sermons bring believers closer to lusting after worldly things, and materialistic treasures more than growing in God. And treasuring the relationship we have with our heavenly Father, so you can become an overcomer.
If God plants you somewhere, you can grow in wisdom, and revelation knowledge. Therefore, be a faithful student and allow the training to make you a better version of who you are in the holy spirit. Because you are an overcomer!
2. Don’t Argue With God:
We all know that it isn’t easy to obey everything anybody tells you. But we must discover at some point or another that the comfort God brings is worth the experience. We can’t afford to watch other people walk in their purpose and never have others watch us walk in ours. An overcomer learns how to be by not resisting the holy spirit. But rather learn God’s behind-the-scenes playbook in a quiet place with the holy spirit. While everyone else awaits to see what you are going to do next in the Holy Ghost. Because you serve a wise God.
Jonah resisted God and had to learn the hard way. Because he resisted God. He thought he had a better plan than God, like some of us. Overcomers learn early on that it pays to be on God’s team and agree with His instructions even when you think yours sound better.
Quote: Don’t argue with God. Just be an overcomer.
Never argue with God. You won’t win.
To add some humor to this blog. For all men who read this blog. My question to you. Have you ever tried to argue with a woman? You won’t win. A wise man learns early on —You won’t win. She’s designed to win arguments, and you are designed to comfort her and listen. Amos 3:3, How can two walk together unless they agree? God is calling us to walk in agreement.
Moses Tried To Argue With God:
Early on in your walk, learn that you win whenever you agree with God. Moses tried to disagree and argue with God about not wanting to go to Egypt and warn Pharaoh. Instantly, he lost the argument. Ignore the voice of your flesh so you can receive your breakthrough.
Have you ever tried to argue with God? Have you noticed that He won’t argue back? He will just show you a better way.
Peter Tried To Argue With Jesus:
Example: In the New Testament, Jesus told Peter You will deny me 3 times before the rooster crows. Jesus didn’t argue with Peter. He just showed him.
An overcomer has a revelation that if God said it, it will happen. Be an overcomer, not a complainer.
It’s always easier to give up and quit whenever you start making excuses because you are probably worrying and not having faith.
Quit focusing on how big your problems are, thinking they’ll never change. Start focusing on how big your God is. I believe God is placing you in the right direction and setting you up for a strong comeback.
Things are being put in place for you because when you start thinking about God more than you are thinking about your problems. Wisdom shows up and deliverance. Turn your situation around with a smile on your face because your heart is full of joy. So that your mouth starts speaking faith and wisdom that reflects how strong the anointing is resting on your life. Because when you speak, people listen. Most importantly, God is touched and God is listening. Because you are an overcomer!
3. What Are You Planting on Your Soil? Once a seed is placed in the right environment, you can’t stop it. It becomes an overcomer. For instance, if you plant love around hate, someone will learn to love. If you plant peace around confusion, people will learn how to get along. If you plant wisdom around a willing heart of people who used to be fools. You will reap a wise community. And if you plant Godly fellowships amid believers, you will develop relationships throughout the body of Christ.
Allow God to show you how to plant the seeds of an overcomer and watch the holy spirit water them because of your obedience, because you refuse to argue with God, and you learned how to work on your relationship with your heavenly Father. Believe in yourself, only you have the power to do this. Because you are an overcomer!
